in a cat carrier, of course. I don't have a car and the foster home is 30 mins walk away, I'd like to keep cat's distress to a minimum

As long as you mention you'll have a cat in a box when you book the taxi it should be fine - I've taken my cats in taxis and the cab company ask if they'll be crated and I assume that they then send only the drivers who are ok with animals.

Thank you for the reassurance! I just had one of those 'oh crap!' moments...Emergency savings: 4600

I know the feeling - I've had quite a few dashes to the emergency vets and needed taxis to get us there. Nightmare but I'm sure they're used to it and wouldn't take the job if they weren't ok with pets.
You're right not to walk all that way if the cat gets stressed with it - one of my cats gets so upset being outside even in his carrier, and it's no fun dealing with a stressed siamese!!

As said above...I work for a cab company and as long as we are informed at the time of booking that you will have a cat in a carrier, its no problem!
We like to know so we don't send a driver who has allergies or problems with animals.:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

I've never had a problem either in a minicab (tell them on the phone) or a in a licensed city taxi (ask at the rank). You might have an issue if your cat is travel sick. You can't walk any distance with a loaded cat carrier, they are too bulky and can be surprisingly heavy when full of cat! I have a carrier that is designed to be strapped in with the seatbelt which I would recommend.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

thanks everyone - in the end the foster family brought us home (a thank you, I think, for rehoming a difficult to rehome cat). He hated the carrier, refused to go in so had to be tipped in backwards. He cried all the way home, really quietly and sadly, but has hopefully now recovered from his ordeal.
pics will be published on cats in a flat thread!Emergency savings: 4600

I always use to say to people who asked could they get in my Cab with a dog, that i'd rather have some dogs than some people. So it's probably the same with a cat.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
