Leaflet agency

Options
Hi all,

I know questions like this one can be tricky to answer, but based on 'if you dont ask you dont get', Ill ask anyway :D

Has anyone got any advice or leads on how I start up a leaflet delivery company?

I do a lot of this myself for other people and was thinking of moving into the market!

I've looked at simply ringing people such as local restaurants up etc to see if I can help them, but was wondering if there was any other avenues I could also explore.

Or any potential problems I might miss!

All the best

hiya, have just started my own business and am delivering leaflets for it myself so I decided to offer the service to other businesses to earn a bit of extra cash. I have delivered now for 6 companies. I charge £20 pr thousand.
I got these jobs by posting on forums and free ad sites. If you want a list of the sites pm me, im not sure i can put them on here. This should be a very easy thing to start from my experiences. Also whilst im out leafleting i take the numbers of small companys that are advertised on vans and signs then phone them and ask if they are interested. Another good way is by posting a leaflet and attached to it have a note saying would you like your business advertised.... or something similar it worked for me

Contact all the local Estate Agents. They're always looking for reliable leaflet distributors.

Your main issue in breaking into this market is appearing professional, I have a couple of small businesses and have had nightmares with leaflets delivery in the past. ie delivering 5000 leaflets to the nearest bin.

But so long as you dont mind a lot of walking its a pretty easy market with not much competition, the key is to get 5/6 leaflets per drop. Making your earnings more like £100 - £150 per 1000 doors.

Working/Living in an urban area will help aswell. Your likely candidates are fast food delivery, estate agents, hair/beauty, small retailers, any good/service that is delivered.

A lot of printers will give you discounts as a reseller so you could offer print as well as distrobution to give it an upper hand over some ;)

Have a word with Deren at Print Empire, https://www.printempire.co.uk

Cracking quality and they claim they'll beat or match any printing quote in the UK.

Cheers, current quote I've got is £25 for a 1000 and gets progressively lower the more you order.

1000 are £80 on that site, big difference and the one I use is 5 miles away from me so I can pick it up. Don't think I'll beat the £25 offer at the minute. I'll see if they will match it.

    Cheers

This may be very obvious, but if you have a free newspaper delivered in your area, you may need to undercut them to be competitive. Or offer something special. DS2 does the free paper, with leaflets, and sometimes has to do an extra delivery with just one leaflet (for which he gets paid extra) so it stands out. DS is required to deliver between Wednesday (when the papers are delivered) and 7 pm on Friday - a reasonable degree of flexibility. He usually gets a longer 'slot' for those 'solus' deliveries.

DH has also attempted to use the free paper route to get one particular area leafleted just before a community event. That was a bit of a disaster as the leaflets weren't given to the individual distributors in time. But being willing / able to do small areas as well as larger ones, to a very particular time scale, might stand in your favour.
