Although I've had my car a year I've only just noticed a problem with it. When the headlights are on, the display screen (sat nav, audio system, reverse camera,) goes dark. It doesn't go off completely, but enough to not be able to see the screen. Not such a problem with the audio, but it did affect the map when I was recently following the sat nav. Should it do this, or is it a fault?

On most cars the satnav will dim/turn to night mode/colours when the lights are turned on. You can normally adjust the brightness of it through the menu system.

  • anti glare feature for night driving, so as not to distract you from the road ahead.

sometimes over ridden in the menu settings, read owners manual, or adjust the dim feature inthe settings.

It doesn't just happen at night though. The lights come on during the day, when its raining. I'll have a look at the menu settings though.

Your car probably has the automatic lights and automatic wiper function. This will switch on the lights automatically when it starts to get dark or if the wiper sensor detects rain. You can normally deactivate both.
