TESCO Direct - Well not quite direct

Beware of Tesco Direct - I ordered a replacement Chimnea from them on Thursday 24 August. It was stated as 'In Stock' and stated to be delivered to local store after 4pm. According to their delivery instructions this would have been today Saturday 26th as we'd missed the 25th deadline time...Fine we could live with that. Even called their customer services as we placed the order to make sure we had it for this weekend... It may be the last half-dry weekend we get from now on?!

Went in store today not there, told it SHOULD be Tuesday 28th?? Called their cust services when we arrived home and told same thing as they couldn't get hold of the supplier as it's Saturday??? Now hold on...their website said it was IN STOCK?? I naively thought in stock with TESCO Direct.

Ok cancel it I told the cust services rep and refund my card. I can't she advised......Why not......Because I have to wait until the supplier opens to do this......But I didn't order from your supplier I ordered from TESCO Direct...... That may be the case but I can't cancel or refund until the supplier opens...

I ended it there because the whole episode is a joke....I realise that TESCO has suppliers, but do they not get it that we don't care who the hell they get it from, they should refund immediately because they have failed to deliver.. One thing is I won't use TESCO Direct again and my advice to you is not bother either...

I'm not the only one either, whilst waiting in the queue in store, the people in front had been waiting over a WEEK for something they'd ordered that hadn't turned up.

....they also have up to 30 days to provide a refund. They could have just told you it was to be refunded, by being honest with you seems to have wound you up more unfortunately.

Retailers nowadays all work on just in time fulfillment, and also indexing of external suppliers. Amazon list stuff sold direct, but is sent through a third party fulfillment (and I am not talking about fulfilled by orders either...

You might not like it, but it is a way of business nowadays...

    Are you in a different time zone lol it's Saturday 25th where I am . . .

    Good heavens!

Fancy having to wait in a queue at Tescos for a week.

    Amazing. :D

I now understand why they stay open round the clock. ;)

So if we take your advice and the other such posts about other companies, where is safe to buy from?

All companies have similar problems from time to time.

Did you receive a call form the store that the item was available to pick up ?

Ive used TD before and have always received a call to say the item is ready for collection.

Btw I have no afilliation with Tesco, only crime is ive not had a problem with TD.

Anywhere where they deliver on time as promised.... I know loads the same as many others of you do..... The fact there was another person in the queue in front of me complaining is an indication that TESCO Direct has problems

Tesco Direct have recently changed their website and stock control system. It is now NON-LIVE and a complete joke as the many posts on various threads will tell.

What's even more baffling are the status updates which can state daft remarks such as ;-

    On my account currently

    Order status - Partially dispatched
Order status - Partially Collected from Store

Both of these are for single items !!!!!

And as for a phone call when it's ready for collection. That doesn't seem to be company policy, but store policy.
