calor gas or halogen

My parents live in a quite big 3 bedroom semi detached house and have only electric night storage heaters, in the winter it does get rather cold during the day time and would like some advice, they are thinking of getting a calor gas heater or halogen heater and to stay in one room that is off the kitchen.I need to know which other heating would be the best to run and the cheapest but to try and keep them warm in the winter as they are getting older and are in there late 60's. there house doesnt have gas only electric. or is there any other heaters they could buy that would help. thank you clare

I would go for a electric oil filled radiator delonghi or similar.

    One with timer if possible.

We have one in sitting room for when oil heating is off.

Less hassle than gas heater: getting refills and condensation problems, etc.

Less expensive to run than halogen types.

But look at posts etc and decide for your parents circumstances.

Halogen will cost exactly the same (per unit of heat output) as a fan heater, an oil filled radiator, or ...

One option may be extra storage heaters.
These can be quite inexpensive on ebay.
