CV help - has child care experience but looking for a retail/waitressing job

I'm not quite sure on what to put on my work experience section. I haven't really had a lot of experience in general apart from looking after children in a nursery & preschool setting. However, because I'm looking for a range of jobs, should i put down the childcare experience, even if i'm applying for waitressing or a retail job?

I did have to serve basic food & do food preparation so i know about food safety & such.

Thanks in advance

Yes, put down your previous role and explain the duties.
You need to sell yourself on the skills you have which are transferable.
Time management, working under pressure, quick decision making - these are all valuable.

"Transferable skills" is the word I was trying to think of,
  • You must work in a team, so you could bring that in to your CV.
I imagine that you must talk to parents or carers so you could mention that as customer service skills and I also imagine that you have been responsible for passing on accurate information to the same people so again you can use that as evidence of good communication skills. Also, you can mention how you communicate with both adults and children, which shows how adaptable you are.
Nursery work must call for attention to detail, being observant, good organisational skills that sort of thing. Helping children focus can mean good people skills.
    Pleny of transferable skills.
There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.

Tolerance and paitence must have been required in abundance!

Awareness of health and safety and potential hazards - you must have had to make sure you that you had eyes and ears everywhere, to not only spot a potential hazard but to reduce or eliminate it immediately. I've had staff ignore spillages, not good in customer facing roles!
Maintaining cleanliness, not just in the kitchen, all areas would have been cleaned regularly.
