Bear in mind the costs of running the van eg insurance, servicing, siute costs and most importantly depreciation.

You will be shocked at how much money you will lose in deprecation over a year, I would guess it would be far more than you could hire a campervan for a week for.

Look into it before you make a decision

While I am asking. I have a question as I know nothing about motorhomes.

Does the van need to be taxed and insured while it is on the site or would this make it more difficult to sell? It has new MOT and Tax on it. I am trying to find out all of the rules. Have emailed a delivery company to see how much they will change for delivering it up there.

    Thanks.

Thanks guys, yes, as I say it's not us but my mothers.

I have told her that it would be better on a site with owners coming in every day so they can see it up for sale but I *assumed* that it needed to be MOT'd, taxed and insured for it to be sold. Then if it does not sell other family members can go stay in it, it gets moved to a pitch for the nights required and then the site owners move it back. But I did think that the insurance was needed on it.

The site people are charging something daft like £5 a month for storage on the site and I guess they take a % when it sells but I want to get this all sorted so I can give her the information.

I know you have said she is not going to drive it but I would think if she only recently passed her standard driving test this would not cover her to tow a caravan..I think motor homes also are only upto a certin size on some licences so worth checking this out.

Apparently you can drive this motorhome on her licence. Quite scary, I am not sure I was want to get into a Smart car with her yet mind. :rotfl:

She came out with me the other day and she was questioning the lane I was in to go round the roundabout. Cheeky cow!!!! :rotfl:

You'll be better using specialist insurers, such as Safeguard, Sureterm, Camping and Caravan Club etc.
  • My bad, I assumed everything should be recorded. I'll put it down as one for my election manifesto along with VAT on newspapers and books.
