Woolworths Trouble

Hi I recently moved house to the other side of the country and couldn't change my default address on my Woolworths Credit account however I could add another address to have my goods sent to, so I added my new address and all was fine, I then made two orders consisting of £310 give or take of bits for the new house, later that day I had a funny feeling that I'd done something wrong on the order and checked the status's of the orders online and I had made the huge mistake of not clicking down on the option of getting the goods sent to my new address but had got the goods sent to my old address, Woolworths said that they would look into it for me and see if they could recover the goods but then later told me that as it is not their fault they will not do anything so now I'm stuck with a £310 bill and nothing to show for it, I have been told that If I don't pay the bill they will send dept collectors to my door which if fair enough but I do feel that they could have done more to help at least try and recover some of the goods, I know it was my mistake but I rely cant afford to be paying that amount of money for nothing, does anyone have any advice please?
Thank you to all the lovely posters on here!!! xx:heart2:xx

What do you want us to tell you? You ordered goods but you arranged for them to be sent to your old address.
It really is not their responsibility, unfortunately.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Can you not make contact with whoever lives at your previous address yourself? Everything you are expecting Woolworths to do in order to help the situation you could possibly do yourself.0

Why should they go out of they're way because a mistake was made by the customer ?
Your only option is as above, ask the current tennants/home owners if the goods are there.0 -
Write/call the old place and explain - then arrange for a courier pick-up or to drive over to collect. Take a bottle of champagne with you to say sorry/thanks!!0

One or two have asked why should they help if a customer has made a mistake,
A little bit of customer service surely is a good thing and it should not have been that difficult for them to re direct the goods.
Not being able to change the default address is also something they should look at as people do move with their work etcI think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0 -

You would be surprised, the OP doesn't say if they had already shipped when they realised, but if they had, changing delivery is alot harder in transit than most realise.
A consequence of people expecting things quickly unfortunately.0 -
When I worked with TNT the depot would ring us on our mobile phone if there was any changes to the schedule.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0

ALOT of companies don't allow redirects on courier deliveries, the same reason is probably why Woolworths don't allow you to remove the default address.
Fraud.
Redirects open retailers up to a fraud risk that isn't covered by any systems...0 -
They do allow redirects if it's obviously going to the wrong address.
There should be a option to change the default address when it's no longer the address that should be used.
It had nothing to do with fraud it's just common sense.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0 -
Common Sense is not part of this - its a business decision based on mitigated risk.
The address is linked to the credit card, if the address default changes, then you would need to ensure its changed on the credit card, why? Because otherwise it fails 3D secure by Visa or SecureCode by Mastercard.
It has everything to do with fraud - its a very big cost to an online retailer and they have to protect themselves as far as possible.0
