OP is correct, they appear to be closed for 3 days. Ludicrous!
However, as I pointed out, there is no exit penalty on Standard tariff, so really no need to call them urgently anyway.

Thanks Macman(everyone)NPower are slightly more expensive and FU the cheapest but with the doubts being put around I thought, stick with who you know...NPower are slightly higher on Standing Charges but I'll stick with who I know...the prices are frozen until October 2013 anyhow...so if the major utilities put their prices up I'll still be cheaper. I should've stayed put...

I can take another look at what's on offer in the future.

I get confused reading through your threads on this, and I thought I understood energy tariffs!
Anyway, cooling off periods are working days, so don't worry about them being closed for the holday. Either way, DON'T get talked into accepting another offer, no matter how good it sounds. Tell yourself it's just a salesman trying to earn his commission and he'll say whatever it takes.
Let everything settle down and next time use a comparison site with your actual annual usage figures in kWh. Then look at the different ways you can get cashback and make your decision without having to talk to any sales people.
Good luck, and if you need suggestions on ways to use less energy, start another thread. Lots of people will respond to that in good old MSE style!

Switching isn't usually automatic from the day after the cooling off period ends.

It never was anyway as it took an operator to send it after making various checks first. This operator may not even get to work it due to backlogs anyway.

If Bgas have built this as an automatic function bases on a date parameter, it will get send but that doesn't mean the can't send a cancellation based on the fact its an error.

So, you have proof you can't contact them and they have your emails. So, call, them next week and if they have already sent it, point out it was not possible to call them and confirm they have those emails. They can then send a cancellation for you.

BG CS is open Saturday 10-6.

Normally it's 8-6 on a Saturday but was closed yesterday for some IT work on systems.

The OP would have 2 weeks from agreeing the sale over the phone to cancel plus an extra day due the bank holiday tomorrow.
