I have a UPVC door with a solid panel at the bottom and glass at the top, does anyone know if it's possible to fit a cat flap? does anyone know someone that would do this in the north west London area?
Thanks

No problems fitting one, I had one done years ago, sorry can't help you with fitter though.
I would think any carpenter could do one, or a local UPVC installer.0 -
Hi - I have the same sort of question, only my door has two panels at the bottom, neither of which would be wide enough to fit a catflap within....is it a new door or no catflap situation?0

It is possible to fit a catflap in a panel. If you can't find anyone to do it, simply buy or borrow a cheap jigsaw and drill and do it yourself. A template will be supplied with the cat flap. Just make sure you don't cut the hole too close to the frame of the door (surrounding the panel).

I have a cat flap in my UPVC door, a friend (who fits UPVC products) fitted it for us. Ask around your friends & family they may know someone happy to earn a couple of quid (I paid £10 took about half an hour);)NEVER ASSUME! :rolleyes:0

It is a very easy DIY job. I fitted one years ago and it didn’t take long. I also did one for an elderly neighbour.
There was a thread about this a few months ago that might be worth searching out.
As above, just get the positioning right so that the frame of the flap does not foul the frame of the door. I fitted mine so that the cat flap fits snugly against the bottom and one side of the door panel surround.
Cats adapt to flaps very easily and can cope with quite a drop but if there is a big drop outside, a breeze block or similar will help.0 -

At home we have a cat flap in a solid panel in the rear door. We got the local upvc window and door fitter out of the yellow pages to fit ours it cost £250

It is totally possible to diy this.
I asked this question here this time last year.
I was quoted over £100 to do this, plus cat flap from various UPVC companies (London area) particularly as I have a panelled plastic panel at the bottom of my door.
So I bought a catflap, and made the OH get the jigsaw and drill out. We agreed to drill a corner hole, to see if the frame had a metal centre. It didn't. so we continued with the jigsaw, and made a hole for the flap.
For the non-flush fitting bits, once the catflap was installed, we sealed around with white silicone sealant. Cat is happy, and so are we! Total cost..cat flap and 1/2 hour of our time :T0
