Two points...
1. Where are you? Not all Lidl offers are nationwide. This doesn't appear to be in our part of the Midlands.
2. Your posting only seems to refer to a single tuner machine. This won't allow you to record more than a single programme at a time. If your TV has its own freeview tuner, you will be able to watch a different programme while you record.0 -
I am sure someone who bought this last year will be able to confirm this... but from the specification you give there is no mention of one Freeview tuner, never mind two! As far as I know there are currently no DVD recorders that have twin Freeview tuners.
For what you want it sounds like you may be better with a PVR... and either the Humax 9200 or the Topfield 5800 are the best of the bunch.0 -
Did a little bit of research on this one myself, and I think that it's the Targa DRH-5400X. (Not 100% sure, so please don't flame me!)
I don't think that it's freeview either, judging by the information available on it, but I could be wrong! I can't go for it due to a sudden cash shortage, but I hope this information is useful to someone. The spec sheet is here or read down for further info...
The compact double-layer Targa DRH-5400x DVD recorder with 250 GB hard disk is multi-talented and can record TV programs to DVD or hard disk. For best quality connect the Targa DRH-5400x DVD-recorder via HDMI to your modern Flatscreen. Double-layer recording technology means the recording time is doubled. This means that nearly all movies fit onto a single DVD – in high resolution.
You can use the time shift function to pause the show you are currently watching and return to it later, without missing any of the action. User-friendly: further edit your existing recordings with a full range of editing functions.
Of course, the Targa DRH-5400x can also play back movies in DivX or XVID encoding.

hi did anyone buy this last time it was available? how's it been? is it worth the money?
cheers"we don't stop playing because we get old; we get old because we stop playing."0 -
I can confirm it is not Freeview but it is Dual-layer DVD. A new Lidl store just opened in Oxford and had these as an opening offer for £99. Even at that price I decided against it as the analogue switch off has started and I don't want to buy something that will soon be obsolete.0
-
^ How will it be obselete?
I am sure you will be able to record from digital (SKY etc)...0 -
Yes, if you want to faff around setting up two devices whenever you make a recording. Far easier to navigate a programme guide and just press one key.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

I hate to sound stupid, but does this operate like a VCR, ie can you watch one station while you record another?
BTW it is definitely the DRH-5400x, you can just read it on the leaflet. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
^ hardly "faffing around"....
Anyway Freeview HDD DVD recorders don't have the Big Film channels or sports channels but I suppose they are fine if you want to record from the Discovery channel...0 -

Yes.... assuming you are talking about recording one program from the analogue tuner in the DVD recorder and watching the TV program on whatever tuner is in your TV.0
