Barclaycard PayTag - I don't want it

I've been sent the new Barclaycard Paytag but am not really that keen on the idea of it.
What is the best way to discard of it? Can I just cut it up like a credit card and throw it in the bin?
It would have been better (and cheaper?) if they had just sent it to people who asked for it, rather than everyone.

They sent out letters with a code. You could then opt out via their website at https://apps.barclaycard.co.uk/notformethanks/ , but it is too late now.
If you don't want it, you should follow the instruction at:
http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal/paytag/notforme
ie call them so it's removed at their end.londonman81 wrote: »What is the best way to discard of it? Can I just cut it up like a credit card and throw it in the bin?
That should do it!londonman81 wrote: »It would have been better (and cheaper?) if they had just sent it to people who asked for it, rather than everyone.
Or if people had read the letter and acted upon it! (Yeah harsh I know, perhaps you didn't get it.)
In principle I agree with you. But the reality is many people don't opt into these things, but when they get sent them they'll use them. It probably is "cheaper" from Barclaycard's point of view to do it this way as presumably they think it will increase account usage/reduce transaction costs/benefit their merchants etc.

I try not to make a drama over these things. They wrote to me advising their intention was to give me a tag and would be received in two weeks. I advised not required. End of story.
I am sure they would have given every customer approached the same opportunity.
