I don't always want to share a room

Options
I'm tempted to enter some holiday or themed break comps but would love to invite different friends to enjoy with me. The comps always seem to offer a 'share room' which may not be appropriate sometimes. Can you ask for separate rooms ? Has anyone changed the accommadation offered ?

I have sometimes seen holiday prizes to include friends, but only rarely. However, if you won a holiday I would be surprised if you couldn't arrange to pay to add an extra room. Prob this would need to be sorted when booking the holiday, rather than with the prize sponsor. Be interested to see what others think on this.

I don't think there is a definitive answer. All competition runners have their own Terms and Conditions and some will stick to them rigidly, some will be willing to allow you to pay more to add extra people or items.

I'd say much as Barnabysue has.I've won two big holidays via online comps. On both I negotiated altered terms. On the NY trip I gave up $1000 to spend in SAKS & added another person on the trip.
On the Vancouver trip I just paid the airfare for the extra person.
Most promotors will help out it seems.

On my (Fab!) Norway trip Mr GB wasn't able to get time off :(, so I took grown-up son. We had a twin room at 1st resort which was OK, but they'd booked us a double at the other . They sorted it easily & without fuss tho' when I said this wasn't appropriate :). We had to cope with the transluscent glass panel that separated the bathroom from the bedroom tho' ... :o:eek::rotfl:

Thank you so much for the replies, and the laugh this morning at your comment GB :rotfl:

I think I might just give a few a go and if I do win (that's the other tricky bit) and see if I can haggle a separate room.

I'll let you know if it ever happens.

Hope everyone has a great day :)

I have the same problem...it's hard being single in more than the obvious way! :( If you don't have a significant other to share the room with it can get awkward sometimes. :lipsrseal It means I very often don't even bother entering holiday competitions. So also interested in people's experiences with changing the accommodation facilities. :)

I don't always want to leave the kids behind :(

I now only enter holidays comps that are for family. Or if they are available in midweek then I can leave my hubby behind with the kids and take my sister :D
