Corporation Tax Correction Notice

Hi, hope you can help - not sure if i've posted this in the right place.

Our Corporation tax is due 1 April 2007 (Sunday) and I set the payment up early and it arrived today with the Inland Revenue.

When I arrived home today I have received a 'Corporation Tax Correction Notice' stating that the amount we owe is actually £457 more than I have paid and that we cannot appeal against the notice. The due date is still the same 1st April and obviously there is no way I can get the payment to the IR by then now. The notice is actually dated 23/3 but I only received it today.

I am going to ring them first thing in the moring to see what this is about, but just wondered if anyone else had experienced this? I don't want to get charged a late payment fee, and neither do I want to have to pay £25 for a CHAPS Payment as I don't really see that this is our fault and we have already paid the amount originally asked for.

Any replies greatfully received, or I probably won't sleep tonight worrying!

I'd recommend speaking to your accountant ASAP or getting one if not as in my experience the corporate tax office can confuse most people except accountants that know the 'system'!

Thanks richt71, yes I do have an accountant and I will be phoning him first thing in the morning! I am also going to ring the IR, but i know what you mean about their ability to confuse people and I do Company Accounts for a living!
