Re-upholstering a chair?

Hello everyone,

Does anybody know how to reupholster a chair? I have a lovely old style reading chair and I'd like to give it a go myself but I don't have a clue where to start.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :-)

It's coming up to evening class 'season' so might be worth seeing if there's anything suitable at your local college.

I found how to videos about this kind of thing online (youtube mostly) a while back when I was looking in to doing my old chair. But it all looked a bit complex and that idea is currently on hold. I did also get some helpful advice on materials to use for padding and fabric choices from the suppliers.
