I have a 6 month old puppy, and i bathed her last night, and she was smelling normal again. but today there is a terrible fishy aroma around her. And its not her breath. And it seems to get worse for a second then die down, as if shes letting off a scent. Its nott he first time its happened either. Its so weird. Anyonwe every experienced this with a young dog before??

Anal gland issues are often described to have a "fishy" smell, they may need emptying (a vet may be the best bet first but you could learn to do it yourself if it's a recurring problem)0

Another vote for anal glands! Our male dog was smelling fishy so we took him to the vet who 'milked' him a couple of years ago. He does smell fishy fairly frequently, but we took him back to the vet and the glands were empty but the smell remained! It's not all the time, but it is rather unpleasant!
We were advised to add a small amount of porridge oats to his food as the roughage helps empty the glands when he goes to the toilet.0 -
Could it have worms?0

Also suspect anal glands - they can release a fishy smell if they're needing emptied (would 2nd a visit to the vets for this!)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

You don't need to 'stick your finger and have a rummage'. Just put your finger and thumb at the 4 and 8 o clock positions and push in and up - look on youtube, there are plenty of vids showing you how to do it.

Please DO NOT self treat your dog based on amateur diagnoses and YouTube videos. DO NOT stick your fingers anywhere without a vet nurse showing you how, you could cause a tear in the bowel or damage the glands so the fluids leak into the body.
this is a board dedicated to pets moneysaving,
the place to discuss the best value pet insurance, any good offers on pet food you spot, where to buy flea treatment and worming tablets, where the best kennels are etc etc

It is best to ask a vet to show you how to express your dogs anal glands before you attempt to do it for the first time because the process can cause impacted anal glands (or in really unusual instances you can rupture the sac). You can safely express your dogs anal glands at home without harming your dog but not everyone is comfortable doing it which is why I get my dog groomer to do that job.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0
