This is a bit of a long winded rant. I couldn't believe it, I received a letter addressed to me in my Maiden name (I got married in Oct 2003), to my horror Liverpool Council were stating that I had been linked to a property (details provided by a credit/debt tracing agency) in Liverpool (I have never ever lived there)and I had to provide proof of my residential status for the period of 12/04-07/05 in the form of a council tax bill or inclusion on the electoral role. I was upset as I havn't got any documents going back 8 years, and further more why was it addressed to me in my Maiden name. I have managed to get a letter from my local council office stating that I was in fact jointly reliable for the council tax for the property in which i lived in and not the one they have me connected to in Liverpool. I have emailed this letter over to them and can only hope that it is sufficient, i say i can only hope as when i rang and asked for confirmation that this will be the end of the matter, I was told that they dont accept calls and I will have to wait for them to contact me  Having sat and thought very long and hard about and talked it over with my husband he reminded me that we were burgled (handbag including drivers licence stolen along with car) shortly before the period that the council want documents for so i believe I may be a victim of Identity Theft, Once the council have got back to me and told me if my proof is sufficient or not I have to then find out which credit agency they use, then contact them and obtain a copy of my credit report to see if anything else is wrong. Im completely baffled over this as I had my creditexpert report a little while ago and none of this was on there - i hope my credit hasn't been tarnished.......so very angry right now, feeling violated and upset. I nearly forgot, I popped into our local police station that dealt with the burglary and asked them to find out what my crime reference number was, only to be told there doesn't appear to be any records on their system of a burglary, very strange as we had CID and SOCO dusting for fingerprints etc, i can only wait now
