Worn Out Bathroom Seeks Bathroom Fitter to Start New Life

Hello All,,
I have a small(ish) bathroom that is in need of a complete re-fit.
After researching on this site and others I like the idea of purchasing the materials myself and paying the trades to install.
Can anyone recommend a good independant bathroom fitter and for that matter a tiler also.
I live in Watton Norfolk and ideally would like to use local tradesmen.
Any help will be much appreciated - Thanks

Try somewhere like City Plumbing locally - they have a pretty good range and will recommend a fitter. Or which local, or your neighbours....0

Thanks Robatwork,, Nearest 'City Plumbing' to me is Kings Lynn which is a bit of a treck but I had a scan at the website and the range/quality and prices look good so may be worth it.
Ideally looking for someone able to give a personal recommendation of someone local to me (within 20 miles) i.e. Thetford, Dereham, Swaffham and maybe Norwich.
I like the idea of being involved in the project doing the labouring while the skills do their stuff!
Thanks agaiin for the reply :beer:0 -

By all means get involved upto a point, while most fitters will welcome a hand out with a the old stuff, bath, tiles etc they won't want you hanging around while they fit, tile etc, while you may want to learn & thats good watching everything & constantly looking over their shoulder won't go down too well.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
I would avoid "doing" anything to help apart from copious tea and biscuits. When something doesn't work properly and they say "well you did that bit" you're stuck.
I doubt you'd get a professional to quote you taking into account your time labouring - only a mate would do that.
You could also try these websites:
trustmark (trading standards)
mybuilder
checkatrade
trustatrader
I would give 10x more credence to the first of these however0 -
Thanks for the advice. No intention to get more involved than chucking stuff in the skip and making bacon butties and cuppa's.
Sfter reading some other threads on here it makes a lot of sense to get out of the house and take a weeks hols while the work is carried out.
Obviously some trust issues to be comfortable with but on the plus side I guess is speeds the job up. Will welcome advice / comments on that approach.
Thanks for the links - I'll let you know how I get on0 -
I am in the middle of a bathroom and rewire job right now and all I can say is I am delighted I am not living there - it's not only uninhabitable but to get them to get the house back livable each evening would probably take a couple of hours and therefore add 20% to the price.
Good luck - hope your bathroom chameleons into something great0 -
I am estimating £2-3k of labour so on your 20% could bring it down by 4-6 hundred quid!
That should cover the b&b
Need to find the right fitter now0
