Insuring 2 cars

I'd like to get a second car & am wondering if there's any way to get my premiums down for insuring both, because if I understand correctly I'm having to enter 0 no claims for one of the cars. I've tried the multi car sites & I find them expensive.

I've not lost a year's no claims for over 20 years, although I'm only allowed to count 5 or 9, whatever is the company's maximum. Is it possible to use ALL of the no claims I've earned & split them between the two cars?

If anyone knows of any (legal of course) tricks, or any companies that don't shout about being multi car but are quite reasonable then I'd greatly appreciate any info.

Thanks

Ask your insurance company that you're with at the moment if they will mirror your NCB. A lot of companies will do this if you already have insurance with them. They done it a few years ago for me when I used a saxo for work and a skyline for pleasure.

Thanks, yes mine do, it'll still cost me over £300 to keep my current car if I get a new one, I only want it as a backup car really.

Aye was funny for me too, was paying around £200 for the saxo and over a grand for the skyline.

Multicar policies are not always cheaper and may retsrict you to that insurer for some time.

They may mirror the no claims but only offer it as a special discount you cannot take away from them.
