PPI reclaiming when one party is dead

Slightly complicated one this, but I thought if anyone could work this out it would be MSE!
Mr Minx and his ex-wife had a secured loan on their house in joint name, which we are fairly certain had PPI on. They divorced in 2006 and under the terms of the financial settlement, he continued to pay the loan until September 2007 after which she had to remove his name from all joint debt in return for getting the house. She remortgaged at that point and we assume that the secured loan was cleared by the new mortgage.
Ex-wife passed away in 2010. Can Mr Minx reclaim the PPI? All the loan payments came out of his earnings, as he was the only one working. I assume we would need to produce a copy of the death certificate? The secured loan was for something like £45,000 so I imagine it would be a fair sum.

First of all you need to ascertain if PPI was paid at all.
You then need to have valid and verifiable complaint reasons.
Any potential redress would, of course, be shared equally between yourself and your ex-wife's estate.
Whoever is executor of your ex-wife's estate would likely have to give permission for a complaint to be made in the first place.0
