We were talking about tv's around the house and wondering with everything that is possible with wifi around the house and out and about now why do we still need cables to connect tv's around the house? It might seem like a stupid question but why can't we have wireless tv? With maybe the main tv connected with cable/ wires but all the others connecting wirelessly.. just as my printer, phone, keyboard , mouse etc.
Sorry if this is a daft question..:o

Fine if you wish to watch the same programme on all the TVs in the house, otherwise you need an RF signal for the individual tuners. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Or you could stack a load of stb's near the aerial point (with an aerial splitter/distribution kit) and have these hdmi senders broadcasting each box0

Just as I thought its more complicated than it looks , why is it not simple like watching catch up tv on the laptop I really don't understand what is so difficult about it.. but then I'm just a simple retired person..lol#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Its simple, TV station sends pictures to a satellite base station via fibre optic land lines or microwave. The base station sends the signal to a satellite in geostationary orbit above the equator, it then broadcasts the signal that is picked up by your dish. Also you have to do is a a few meters of coax to your receiver.
If you want iptv then that's also your choice but you'd better have an unlimited bb contract. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Also to achieve tv wireless, you'd have to have a device capable of retransmitting UHF signals which is prohibited at present (you could wreck havoc) whilst laptops/printers etc which use "WiFi" operate on the 2.4 or 5ghz frequencies which is far weaker and therefore more controllable.0

According to Currys
Integrated aerials:
New digital TVs often have the aerial built in with Freeview built in.
which would suggest you could have a wireless (apart from the power supply) Freeview TV.
If such TV's exist I'd expect their aerials to be quite weak so you'd have to be in a strong signal area. Having looked I've not found such a TV. I think maybe the Knowhow website should be renamed Knownothing. Might pop in to Currys next time I'm passing to have a look at a few models.0
