    No they can't, but they can however 'force' you to accept an identical product.

    All insurance of this type does is to indemnify you (i.e. put you back in the same financial position as you were immediatly prior to the incident). It is their choice how to do that, providing they comply with this.

    Signet is the H Samuel group and they do include some high end types as well.

    Your contract with was your insurers and you need to start taking action against them. Write a letter of complaint. They then have a certain length of time to reply/resolve.

    I had a whole load of things stolen a week before xmas a few years back. It took until this time the following year to get it sorted, and it was cash settled, because by the time they got round to it, most things had been replaced anyway.

    Push for cash on the bracelet.

    Your complaint should be to your insurers in the first instance, advise them you are not happy with the way the claim has been handled thus far, advise them that you intend to refer your complaint to the ombudsman if you do not receive a satisfactory response and resolution to your claim, this will result in immediate response, as a poster above has stated there are time limits set out in which they must respond 15 days if I remember rightly, a referral to the ombudsman will result in automatic costs of £750 to your insurers and they will want to avoid this or at least demonstrate they have done everything in their power to expidite your claim. I would strongly recommend against this action if there is anything untoward or illegitimate regarding this claim as the choices open to the insurer are to resolve or commence legal procedings as a result of such a communication.
