Boiler control panel

Hello everyone. I just would like to know if only CORGI registered tradesmen are allowed to install a boiler control panel?

And if this is the case, I imagine a certificate of some sort must be delivered?

Only asking because we're buying a house and it turned out that the current owner has had the boiler control panel changed but does not have any paperwork related to it (which she conveniently forgot to mention in the earlier paperwork she had to fill in). Nor has the boiler ever been serviced.

The servicing is not a problem, we don't mind having it done before exchange. But what if the new panel needs a certificate? Would a lack of certificate have any impact for insurance purposes? I am not talking about boiler cover here, but imagine there is a problem with the boiler control panel and it damages the building/content: is it likely to be a problem?

Our solicitor is obviously off for the weekend so we can't ask her and I just would like to see where we stand to (hopefully) give us some peace of mind :rotfl:

What boiler are you talking about and which particular control panel?

CORGI hasn't maintained the Gas Register for three and a half years. Capita do it under the GasSafe banner.

    Cheers

The boiler is a Potterton Suprema and we don't really know what control panel as we've only been given sketchy details :( I think the best thing for us will be to pay for a Gas Safe to service the boiler and certify it is safe :)

Do you mean control panel or control board?

Early Suprimas had endemic issues with faulty PCBs (control board if you will) meaning that they didn't work properly and locked out for no real reason. So widespread was the problem that Potterton had to agree a programme of free replacements. No it was not necessary to be an RGI to change one and no a certificate wouldn't be required on PCB change.

Thank you Keystone :) I googled the mobile number of the vendor's plumber, which led me to his name and I just found out he is GasSafe registered anyway :)

We're going to have a full servicing done anyway, and we were thinking of changing it as our first big project :) I will be sure to keep all the paperwork for when we sell one day :D

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my silly question. I always tend to panic as I really don't understand the system :rotfl:
