Title change

I got married recently and kept my own name. I thought I wouldn't need to change any documents, however, now I am now wondering as I am no longer a miss, do I need to officially change my title to mrs?
Is it enough to change my name to mrs as new things come up, or should I do a blanket change on everything where I may be held as a miss. On some things, ie passport it doesn't specify miss or mrs.
I'm getting paranoid lately as when I do new things I put Miss, but then when compared with previous docs it seems wrong as one is miss and the other mrs, but I guess this will always been the change after marrying whether you change just the title or surname and title.

Thanks

I suppose I could. It means you are not disclosing what you are doesn't it?

No, it means you are an adult female the same way Mr means someone is an adult male. In both cases, marital status is irrelevant.

Your title is personal choice, it's doesn't have any legal status AFAIK.

I would not recommend adding Mrs to your maiden name. It would mean that all who met you would assume you and your DH were not married to each other and that you are either presently or previously married to someone else. What were your reasons for keeping your maiden name? Only asking as you seem keen for it to be recognised that you are married.

A friend of mine kept to her maiden name after marriage, as she's well known in her profession; she still uses the title Miss if a title is required.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • The advice I got when I went from Miss to Dr was to just start using it.
(p.s. I'm now Mrs or Dr depending on the circumstances but I have not come unstuck at the bank or elsewhere because of two different tittles)

Why would people assume this. Many married couples I know both parties have kept their surnames and the wife now uses the title Mrs, without any problem. There will be many occasions in OP life where they are filing in form, being introduced to people etc where the husband will not be present so your scenrio wouldn't happen.

Just start using it. Write to your card companies etc, and ask them to change it if you wish.

Thanks all. I kept my maiden name as I established with it in my profession and I as I got married later in life I'm kind of used to it :)
