It doesn't work quite that way.

As an example, if your IB was £110 when you were moved to the SG you would get the SG rate of £105 and extra payment of £5 to make it up to the same as you had on IB (e.g.£110).

Now that you are in the WRAG you get the £99 WRAG rate plus the extra £5 to give you a total of £104 and a reduction of £6.

Be aware that now that you are in the WRAG your ESA(CB) will only remain in payment for a year.

What is unfortunate is that it seems you might have left it too late to make an appeal (unless you can show good cause for not doing so within a month of decision). If you wouldn't be eligible for income related ESA I'd be inclined to make a serious effort at next reassessment to get into the support group given the last paragraph of what Scarlet says. You should be able to get indication of when next reassessment is likely to be from the ATOS advice to the DWP.. be it the ESA85 ATOS Medical report (if face to face medical occurred) or ESA85A ATOS report (if no f2f medical)... contact the DWP and request a copy if you desire it.

You have 1 month from the date you received your WRAG letter to appeal, although it may be 1 month form the date of the letter, (which would be unfair if the letter was delayed in the post from reaching you.)

It is also unfair to restrict it to 1 month given that most decesion letters are sent out without a GL24 form enclosed. But I digress.

As said your payments will now stop after a year unless you sucesfully appeal to the support group.
  • Appeal and give reasons for doing so late. If I'm reading this right we are talking a 'few' months (ie less than 13) since you were put in the WRAG. DWP tend to be, dare I say, sympathetic as the next step is a decision by Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service (the appeal board), and they tend to accept late appeals and then give DWP 6 weeks to reconsider and submit a submission (latter if appropriate). That said, I'm assuming this is not a time limitaiton case? (ie you have not exhausted/approaching your 12 months ESA and have had the letter saying so?)
