Non-delivery consumer rights

I have placed an order through my business for office furniture six weeks ago. The emailed order stated delivery between 7 - 10 days. However I was advised when I phoned that the factory who was to make up the furniture was closing down for two weeks and there would be a delay. I was advised delivery would be before date 24th Aug (six weeks after order) and I asked for as much notice as possible.

I have made three calls in total over past week and was advised they were chasing but I subsequently tried to cancel order today. I was told that the verbal delivery-by date was an estimate and I should expect two days either side. Also advised that the items were being made to order and now I must pay 20% cancellation charge. This charge is in the terms and conditions on the company website but if the original emailed order states 7 - 12 days do I have any rights?

Would be very grateful for advise. Many thanks

Unfortunately this isn't a Consumer rights issue - this is a business-to-business contract matter. :(

You altered the contract when you agreed to the delay, you should wait the other two days(26th) and then try to cancel again. If they still don't deliver they are in breach of the contract as the promised time has ran out.
Although this isn't a consumer rights issue, you still fall under contract law, the delivery dates are binding.
