How do we change a properties official address?
Baileys_Babe
We have 2 houses that we have knocked into 1 residence (including only 1 letterbox). Both properties have names (instead of numbers), we would like to change this to a different name.
How do we go about this?
Who do we need to contact?
Thank you for all your help.
I was unsure of where to post this, please move to the most appropriate place, Thanks

Thank you 00ec25, before starting this thread I did search google. I did find the Telegraph article but not the royal mail info, I even tried searching their site as well, so thank you for bring it to my attention. As I had know idea what the correct search terminology was I was having difficulties coming up with the solution. I felt there was no point contacting my LA with the query as they are about as effective as a chocolate teapot. Now I know it is engineering department I need to contact I can get on with it.

We did ours just by e-mailing the council and requesting a name change . Fee was £30You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)1

I can confirm the getting in touch with the local council. They have a form and process for it. They then get in touch with the other authorities etc to inform them that there has been a name change. People like Royal Mail and the Police/Fire/Ambulance etc so they know the place exists and is on their maps etc.1
