  • Will they take all year round or should I wait until spring to give them a go?

I have 9 that arrived as giant plugs and some of them have done really well needing potted on a couple of times already.
  • Great, still getting more cuttings to root even now. There must come a point when they don't want to co-operate surely? :)

Are there any other plants that are as easy as this to produce? Is there a similar method with osteospermum for example?

When the weather gets cold they'll stop growing and rooting though they will root/grow if indoors on a windowill.

Yep osteospermums root in just the same way, bought a plant in a pot later summer took some cuttings put them in water and now have 8 very nice healthy rooted plants in pots in the porch. :)

Well, it has been worth the wait, with both the ones in water and the ones in pots taking root in pretty impressive numbers. I must have about 30 shoots now rooted and being brought on in individual pots.

Would it be best to pinch these out at the top and should it be done now or left till spring?

    Really pleased with this success!

I have had a great success with these too following the advice that I found and posted above. I limited myself to one large pot with 8 cuttings around the edge and they all took really easily and now roots are showing through the bottom of the pot. I took the cuttings in September and left the pot in my (brand new!) unheated greenhouse. If only all my gardening efforts were so successful!
  • I have one jamjar that I didn't get round to planting and the cuttings have stayed exactly the same as the day I popped them into the water, no roots, no rot, still taking up water - strange! They are in very good light in shed with perspex roof

Do you get "The Garden" mag from RHS Dusty? This month has a big article/tutorial about taking root cuttings throughout winter

Osteos are very easy, just pull off side shoots, strip off bottom leaves and pot them up

Sorry I have only just seen this. No I don't get it but there is a pdf of it on their website so I'll take a look - thanks again
