Help needed about building & content insurance!

I'm hoping someone can help! Here's our situation:
  • Our building & contents insurance policy for our current property/home expires next Tue 28 Aug.
  • We are in the process of re-mortgaging our current property as a buy-to-let. The mortgage is meant to complete next Wed 29 Aug and we therefore need landlord's insurance in place.
  • However, we will still be living in our existing property until around 7 Sep as the house we are purchasing and moving to isn't due to complete until then. We also need building & contents insurance in place for the new property.
Is it okay for us to live in the house with the buy to let insurance in place?

Or should we renew our existing policy for our current property and then change this to the new property?

We are confused and not sure what to do!!!

Speak to your current Insurers about renewing and then changing the address to the new property. Arrange a landlords policy for the let property from the relevant date
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
