  • Hi,
I had to cancel a couple of flights with Ryan well ahead of the departure and was told the same line, despite them probably reselling the seats, they offered no refund.
Seems very unreasonable- just like the big banks!

You may as well not cancel then - they won't then resell the seats

I don't understand how anyone can choose to fly on an airline whose owner has such contempt for its punters - the people lining his pockets.

How many price fixing scandals have Ryanair been involved in? How many times have industrial disputes let Ryanair passengers stranded?

BA and Virgin are nowhere near the "gold standard" for service that they are made out to be. Indeed, they are barely better and even worse than Ryanair in many aspects.

It's not right of course, but the only way it could get changed is if enuff people complained to their MP and the OFT perhaps.

Why, are you an advocate of people doing work for nothing?
I have a feeling that Ryanair takes millions in "taxes" that it never passes to the authorities even when the flight is completed. When the Government increased Airport Duty recently you didn't see Michael O'Leary complain about being a tax collector, did you, eh?

Pretty serious allegation to accuse Ryanair of tax fraud. Then again, your jealousy is amusing :)
I say this because thousands of people have been in the situation you are in, and also the tax they quote varies incomprehensively for the same routes on different dates even when the base price is the same. If the "cost" of cancellation was less, then far more people would claim back the tax, thus scuppering this part of Ryanair's blatantly opportunist business model. But they would simply dream up another way to grab the same kind of cash until someone complained about that too.

It doesn't matter what they say the tax is - the point is that they still have to pay the UK Government the tax owed. HMRC don't seem to be complaining about Ryanair, perhaps because they don't mess around with the taxman.
Have you noticed how their checked in baggage charges have rocketed in the last 12 months since they introduced it?

    So? They're a business, not a charity!
On the face of it you might say I was lucky to get one back on them, but actually it just shows how holes appear in low cost procedures. Makes you wonder what else they can so easily forget, doesn't it?

Yet another serious allegation made by someone hiding behind his computer. Perhaps you should publish your full personal details, and Ryanair can discuss the matter with you. Oh wait, you clearly won't - because you're just full of empty nonsense.
And while I am on my Ryanair rant today, have you noticed just how hard-faced they require their staff to be when answering questions like "Would it be ok for me, mother-in-law, the push-chair and the two babies to get on with the Priority Paid passengers so we can find a seat?" "Have you bought a priority boarding pass?" "No, but I just thought it might be best if ..." "Sorry, no pass, no priority boarding. Please go to the back of the normal queue over there and could you please move your push chair as you are blocking the way".

Yes, it's a business that relies on processing passengers quickly and effectively. If they didn't pay, they don't get priority boarding. And quite frankly - after a long day of dealing with people who think that they deserve free priority boarding - I'd be equally short with them. Of course, if you think that any successful business lets their customers have things that they haven't paid for - well!
...and the other one ... can I pay for my coffee by Danish Krone on this flight from Denmark (crewed probably by Poles Italians and Spaniards and flown by Bulgarians and South Africans). "We only accept notes and we give no change (not even change in Sterling or Euro). The Exchange rate is XXX".

That's their policy - like it or lump it. However, I simply don't believe you - I pay quite frequently in Zloty and get change in either Euro or Pounds. It wouldn't be the first time you've invented a story about Ryanair in your head! They even give change in Zloty if they can!
    From Poland...with love.

    They are (they're)
    sitting on the floor.
    Their
books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.

The post was made over three years ago only someone resurrected the thread to raise a point about a different airline.
