Free parking near Bristol City Centre

Hello All,

I am going to Bristol on a shopping trip soon and would really like to avoid parking costs as I am on a tight budget.

Not sure whether I will be coming in on a week day or a Sunday yet. Could probably do a Sunday if parking is easier or cheaper.

I am pretty fit so happy to walk up to 20 minutes into Broadmead / Cabot Circus.

I will be coming into Bristol along the A370 from Weston Super Mare direction.

I know there is a P&R at Long Ashton which would cost about £3.50 which isn't bad, but I would prefer to park for free if at all possible.

Do any Bristoleans (sp?) have any suggestions?

Sorry to say but there is no free parking in Bristol City Centre (someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I've not found it yet!)

Cabot circus is expensive to park in...so avoid it. Parkand ride is always a good option, saves the stress of driving in city centre traffic as well as some cash.

If you're willing to walk, the best place to park is next to the Mshed, Whapping Wharf car park. It a good car park, charges are reasonable, Sat is £2.50 a day, Sun is £1.50 a day. During the week that jumps to £6.50 a day (which is still cheaper than Cabot Circus!)

It's really easy to find and get to, is a 5 min walk from the hippodrome and it's not too far a walk in from there to Cabot, easily doable in about 25 mins.

Hope you have a lovely time visiting our wonderful city!

It is free to park in Castle Street on a Sunday - but be aware you will need to arrive relatively early to get a space. It's a 5 minute walk to Broadmead and around the same to Cabot Circus.

I think its also free to park in Berkeley Square (top of Park St) on a Sunday. Down side is the walk back up the length of Park St laden with shopping.

I'd go park 'n' ride if I were you. Bristol's a bit of a pain to get around by car (as most cities are tbh!) If you want to get those free parking spots above you might want to get in to town early as I bet the locals are well aware of them.
