AVOID these. I bought some bread rolls that were yellow reduced stickied for 21p. They didn't even last the next day. I know these are end of life products but that seems crazy.
And there's always a scrum around the marked down items. What is it with some people???

Being a MSE isn't always about buying stuff because it is cheap.
Many people think that by buying reduced stuff they are saving themselves money, but half the time they buy it, freeze it, then end up chucking it.0 -
I don't know how people get stuff this cheap. My local Asda (Colchester) does rubbish reductions on yellow stickies - £2.99 reduced to £2.69 and the like.
For fresh products (bakery, refrigerated etc), I'd usually only buy them to eat same day. But you could have toasted the rolls if they went a bit stale?0 -
Me and OH regularly buy quite a lot in Asda and Tesco's reduced section, but have to admit Tesco's is better by far. Saves us a fortune
For bread, whether reduced or not, always do the 'squeezy test' before buying. And make sure packaging is airtight with no tear holes.
Most food has a 'best before' date rather than a 'use by', and you know by the look and smell of something if it's not edible, regardless of date.Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
I live off these products and have hardly ever had a problem.
Mould? Cut it off. I don't usually see mould until a week after bbe on bakery products.
Some people are trying to campaign to reduce food waste in supermarkets and posts like this are not helping. If anyone pursued this with ASDA they would stop reducing and just chuck perfectly good food!pinkteapot wrote: »I don't know how people get stuff this cheap. Huge assumption, I use everything I buy reduced in some form of another. If it is that badly gone it goes in the compost bin for my plants so is still recycled.
And of course you are saving money buying reduced stuff, especially if you went in to buy that specific product anyway.
Once got 20p eggsAnd yes, I ate them over a week and they were fine!

Thank you pawsies
OH came home other day with a bag of Tesco bakery fruit nut & choc chip cookies, cooked ham from deli, tub of spag bol sauce (inc mince), 2x packs of potato slices with batter, bread rolls... think that was it. Checked the receipt... 97p! :T
Like I say, we do this regularly, and both me, him and DD1, 2 and 3 are still alive to tell the taleWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
i will never buy bread with the reduced stickers on as i like it really fresh and will only buy it if i know its been baked that day.
And i used to work doing the markdowns at the end of the night when everything goes down to 10p etc and there was always fights between the customers who were snatching for stuff. i used to take it out the back in trays to do it as if i didnt i got shoved into the fridge so many times by people all trying to snatch the stuff out of my hands. and it would be the same people every night who would walk round for hours waiting for it all to be done.
thankfully i dont do that bit anymore0 -
When OH was out of work we lived off reduced stuff was the only way we could afford to eat!
We use to just freeze stuff and it would last ages.
I still look now and still get decent bargins and the animals love the reduced deli meat. The other day I got £4 worth of finest ham for 46pFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
I also buy some of the reduced stuff & usually freeze it when I get home, the other week I got 3 large blocks of Dramore cheese reduced to a quid each, from £3 each,3 tubs of peppercorn sauce for 50p each & a few other odds n sods.
Some of the reductions are ridiculous tho,as another poster remarked, only a few pence reduced off an already expensive item.0 -

Sigh! Yet another first-time poster posting about a problem with a major supermarket. So rare that this happens on this forum.
Hope you got an itemised receipt
