Hi there
I am looking for a floating shelf (ideally wood) that can house a dvd player. Has anyone used a floating shelf that holds DVD player/sky box etc?. Any ideas where I can get a floating shelf.
thanks

we have some floating shelves from ikea - however, I don't think that they would hold s dvd player or sky box unless they were very light models. Moast floating shelves do have weight restrictions so make sure you check this first
good luck with your huntr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
if they can hold a set of books they can certainly hold a dvd player?
ikea say 5-15kg depending on the wall/fixing method.Get some gorm.0 -
If you've got plasterboard walls I really wouldn't bother. I've taken all the ones down in my house, they started drooping.
You'd be better going for a floating box.0 -
I've got a fairly heavy centre speaker on an Ikea floating shelf. It's been there for years with no problems."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

we originally bought ours to hold books but now only have three church candles, a small photoframe and a light vase on them as we have plasterboard walls and it couldn't hold anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!
We ended up buying a free standing bookcase for all our booksr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
i put a floating shelf iin 10 months ago and have recently had to re mount it.
origionally it was good only had to hold 2 candles and v. occasionaly a vase of flowers. but over the last few months it has held nothing due to the fact it has been sagging. the other day i fixed it (possibly) in took it down an noticed my plaster has sttretched my origianal drill holes, i filled these with cheap matches (live ends cut off) and wood glue, and covered with polly filler (dads fav) after setting i re fixed th bracket with card board at the bottom to hold the shelf up slightly. i then fitted the shelf with a generous portion of no more nails glue all the way round, hopfully this will hold the shelf in place...if not i will need to replaster and forget about mantle shelf.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
I got a floating shelf from b & q that said it would hold 14kg but I found it dropped when I put my books on it and I ended up putting brakets up. Might be worth having a look though.0

First two posts both solely to recommend a site?
Looks a bit spammy to me.Debbie0 -
and on what grounds do you think that is the case?
and 18 months after the post?
as a poster with many thousands of posts, and recommending 2 major retailers, (who spend millions every yr in marketing) is hardly spamming. !!!!!!.Get some gorm.0
