They've got your number so answer the call. This will cost them money. If you are free then waste their time. "Yes, I had a loan which had PPI with XXX bank." Give them realistic but fake sort codes and account numbers. Ring your own doorbell and say you have to answer the door. Then go and cook dinner for half an hour. They'll be gone!
    The man without a signature.
  • I've done the following on my Nokia 3510i (I've had it for almost 8 years now):
    • Set up a phonebook entry (contact) called "COLD CALLER"
    • Set the ring tone to Mosquito (annoying sound like a mosquito buzzing)
    • Add the cold callers' numbers to that entry

I've already hit the limit on one entry, so I might have to rename it to "COLD CALLERS 1" and add a new one called "COLD CALLERS 2" :D

(This has to be saved into the phone's memory, btw, as the SIM card won't accept multiple numbers per entry.)

If the phone goes off with a "Mosquito" ring and the screen shows "COLD CALLER", I can safely ignore it - the drawback is that you have to answer the very first call to know it's a cold call.

MothballsWallet, they almost always withhold their number or phone from overseas, so your phone won't have a cold caller number to store.

I get a lot of these on my landline. I just do nothing. I don't speak to them, I put the 'phone to one side and let them waste their money talking into space.
  • If they're a company trying to sell me something I just say "Hold on, I'll get her!" Then put the phone to the side, call my name out loud and say "You're wanted on the phone" .... and walk away! They hold on for ages thinking that someone is coming to speak to them! ;)
I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!

    :p
  • I had 2 missed calls from this number yesterday in the space of 15 minutes, decided to ring them back as i thought it may have been important. I rang the number and an automated recording said that the call was not important so there is no need to ring, but if i want my details removed from their records to dial another number. I never bothered as it is probably a scam, and then the automated thing hung up on me. I'm just waiting for them to call back so i can quiz them about their details as i'm only 21 and still live at home with my parents, never had a loan in my entire life, or a credit card.

    Can't wait for this!!!!!:)

They just phoned for the second time in as many days. I told the Mancunian imbecil on the other end that I would cut his head off.
