'Free £250 voucher at morrisons/tescos'

Options
I keep getting these in my facebook newsfeed. Now I'm obviously not going to click on it but just want to know what it is, is it a virus?

I cannot see morrisons or tesco giving away £250 to some random person clicking on a link!

I suppose this is more of a warning/question more than anything.

Probably one of those dodges where you get a voucher(s) offering you £250 off a £4000 holiday or suchlike.

I got one on my facebook but when I clicked on it Norton blocked it, so looks like it is some kind of virus.

Normally such links direct you to fill out an interminable survey.

I can see a few problems with this! (I have tried similar offers once or twice)

The surveys are incredibly long and often leave you stuck in a loop, making it near damn impossible to finish. I take surveys regularly for companies like Toluna, NewVistaLive, YouGov etc so thought I would be able to get through it, but these surveys are so poorly designed (probably deliberately) that you won't physically be able to get to the end of the survey to claim the elusive £250 (or whatever they're supposedly offering).

Secondly, this is an amazing waste of time - you could easily spend an hour on it that would be better off doing something else (and by the end of the hour there's no guarantee you'd have the £250).

Thirdly, during this time, the company running the survey (NB - NOT necessarily the company the voucher is for - so in this case not necessarily Tesco/Morrisons) is able to collect plenty of personal info from you (location...income bracket...general demographic...buying habits etc), which in turn also leads to plenty of spam! So even if you do manage to make it all the way to the end and get the £250...is it really worth the hassle? I'm not sure it is.

    Possibly an email harvesting scam.

Typically offer something like £xxx of shopping vouchers if you forward an email to 10 friends and CC it to a certain address.

Both Morrisons & Tesco have posted on their facebook walls over the last day or 2 pointing out these are scams & nothing to do with them, basically it is companies trying to get hold of peoples personal details for their own uses.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

    Xmas Saver!
Just had a go. Before you fill out you final details (Asks you 3 times) I noticed by doing so I was signing up to pay £4 a month to some company. Can't tell you which one, as deleted my details I closed page rather quickly.
