young redundancy

please can anyone tell me if my son should get redundancy pay. he is 19 and been an apprentice since 16 then taken on full time, he has been given 1 weeks notice no extra pay but 2 weeks holiday pay. is he entitled to redundancy or not because he was an apprentice or does it just go on full time work experiance and minimum wages ( he was working 42 hours plus a day in college and getting £100 a week). thanks julie
