I know there is a thread for free SIM cards for British networks but I was wondering if anyone knew how I could get hold of a free French SIM card? I have checked out some of the French networks' sites but I can't see any free pay as you go SIMs.
Many thanks!

Not sure what you are looking for. do you want a simcard to make cheap calls to france?

Maybe be cheaper to buy in France, if you are going on holiday that is. For example, when I went to Madrid last year I bought a Vodafone sim locally for 22 euros but it did have 30 euros credit on it. Also got an Irish sim for 19 euros and it had 20 euros credit.[STRIKE]30:22[/STRIKE]

I am going to Barbados late next week to see the cricket World Cup and Orange charge £1.75 per minute to make calls back to the UK! Can anyone help me cut this cost while I'm out there? Maybe I could purchase a Barbados sim card in the UK before I go?0

I know this is not about Barbados or France, but here goes:
When I was in New York last year, I visited a Radio Shack where, although I was unable to buy a SIM card, I was able to buy a handset WITH SIM for $19.99 (about £10.00) which, after a little setting up was loaded with some more credit and was allowed to make international calls back home to Blighty.
By no means as cheep as getting an international calling card to use at the payphone, but an awful lot cheaper than using my uk Mobile.
As soon as you get to your destination, have a look in a local mobile shop, you may get a good deal.
I know this means I have ended up with yet another handset, but ebay is always an option.0 -
Buy a local pay as you go sim once your out there. (Remember to take your passport to the shop they usually ask for it nowadays) Calls will be cheaper for you and the other party is not paying to receive your calls or texts in this country.[STRIKE]30:22[/STRIKE]

I need 2 sim cards PAYG too - Going to Paris Easter break for 3 days. Where can I get something like virgin sim card where they hv already top up the £5.00 credit.0

I've never seen them free for french mobiles. I bought one from the supermarket. Not too dear. My orange phone wouldn't work with an orange sim though. Had to put the french sim in my wife's phone & it was fine. Beware the expiry date of your top up. 1 month for cheapest - 6 months for dearest so use it up before you leave.0

I am also interested in getting a SIM card for Germany. If anyone have any info, could they please pass it on. Thanks0
