unclaimed payment

I bought something on ebay, paid with credit card through paypal. Seller has over 500 feedback but is located outside the UK in an EU country. I received the item and left positive feedback. I have used the item so it is impossible to send it back to the seller. Payment is unclaimed for 5 days now. I want to close my paypal account. What would happen if I did this?

Why close your PP account? There is no charge if you don't use it and you might want to buy again.

Drop a friendly note to the seller alerting them to the issue and explain that they might have the wrong email address attached to the listing from which you bought. Suggest they either add that address to Paypal, or you will cancel the payment and they can reinvoice you from their correct address.

Which country are they in?

The existing payment would be cancelled so you would still owe the seller their money,you could not reopen your paypal account nor another with the same banking details, if you no longer wish to use paypal just leave it,you may need it in the future.
