Road TAX for 1 day?

  • I am aware of this exception. However, my car has 11 months MOT left (10 months by the time I get back to the UK). So it would seem kind of strange. There is some damage to the car, but only minor. My passenger wing mirror was smashed off and its now being held up by sticky tape. Any chance a 'repair booking' or something similar would suffice?
  • Just pay for the road tax and take the hit. It's only an extra £25 and you'll be legal.

Where's it going to and from? I might be able to help so long as you don't mind when it gets done.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?
  • Were it a simple matter of £25, I would not mind so much. The problem comes if I am unable to request a refund, or at least cash in that refund.

If the car is not in my name (it wont be), then I cannot cash the CHQ. My not being in the UK also complicates things somewhat as I would have to rely on others to do cash it in and then transfer money back to me.

Skivenov, if you could help, that would be wonderful.

I will be back in the UK between September 12th and September 17th (maybe later). I plan to get my flight to HK on the 17th or 18th. Which gives us a 4 day window really.

The car is located in Nottingham, near the city centre (post code starts with NG7). The destination is Snettisham, King's Lynn (post code starts PE31).

Ideally, the car would be picked up in Notts, driven to King's Lynn, dropped off, and then back to Notts with me in the truck/van (whatever) . I'm not exactly flush with cash but if we can do it for a similar cost with less hassle on my part, I'm good with that.

I estimate the cost of doing it myself to be around £90 including a train back home. So £100 is more than reasonable to me.

Yeah, that could be doable, I struggle with planning that far ahead though. If it'd be possible to do it before then it'd be easier (don't worry too much about my return journey).

  • Hi Skivenov,

Is it you that would be the one doing the transportation?

If so, lets get in touch. Give me a PM and pass me your contact details. We can make arrangements.

I know my budget of approx £100 is not a great deal, and if it is indeed possible, it is a very reasonable price, and I would appreciate it very much.

Better yet, I'd happier knowing me £100 was spent helping another working person rather than filling the pockets of rich insurance companies and Government coffers!

Look forward to hearing from you.
