To my surprise, AAT have got in contact with HLC who have back pedalled!
They tried to offer me a guaranteed exam date, which I refused as I couldn't make it - they then offered a full refund!! (naturally I had to follow up every communication with a second 'where's my reply email' and one Day all HLC email addresses appeared to be 'unknown, but still....)
The money isn't actually in my account yet, so hope I'm not jumping the gun, they confirmed it this morning though.
My advice to anyone involved in a similar incident with HlC therefore would be to contact the awarding body with your complaint!0 -
Sorry to hear of your issues Josh. FTR, my husband went on a course provided by this company some 5 years ago, and this woman from the company came to our home and interviewed my husband and said 'yes you are suitable for the course;' (of course he is, they were getting £1,500 out of us!) And it was an A+ course I think: for computing. He got a bunch of manuals (maybe thirty quids worth) and a number to ring if he needed help.
Well, within several days, he realised he was struggling to do it. He is not dumb by any means, and is rather good with computers, but he does struggle with learning a bit - and he called the tutor a few times, and they were actually bloomin' useless! He ended up more confused than he was before he spoke to them! He tried to do the course for a few weeks and eventually he reluctantly admitted that he couldn't do it
He had taken a finance agreement for the one and a half grand and we had to pay £40 a month for 3 and a half years! Even though he gave up on the course after a couple of months
At a later date, we even found out that the course he had signed up for was only HALF the A+ course; just the software part. The other half (for the hardware) would have cost another £1.5K!
So I feel sorry for anyone who has ended up dealing with this company.0
