Not sure how much you'd need for 400 jars but the memsahib has just bought a 250g bottle from Tesco for just over £2 if I remember rightly.
She's making chilli jam, she's normally makes chutney and I don't think she adds it to that.
What about jam sugar? You're going to need sugar and that has pectin in it.
