We need to buy a new mixer, we have always had a food processor, but OH only uses it to make cakes etc, we have tried to make dough in the processor and it overheats. OH has seen a kenwood prospero, a kenwood chef but has been recommended to get a kitchen aid. Has anyone got any recommendations or where we could get a good deal?

I've owned a Kitchenaid Artisan Mixer for around 4 years. It was an expensive purchase but I think it was worth it.
I use mine for making cakes, dough, mashing potatoes etc.
I also have the pasta attachment and use that a lot. I can't comment on the Kenwood as I have never owned one, but I would recommend a kitchenaid. I reckon mine will still be going strong in 20 years time.0 -
my OH has a problem with her wrist, is it heavy to use? Looks like the machine weighs 12kg0

They are heavy but mine sits on the work top all the time. I don't really have to move it that often. The top part of the mixer that lifts up to accommodate the mixer bowl is easy to lift and operate. The bowl and attachments are easy to put on and off too. If your going to be putting it in a cupboard after every use then it probably would be a bit heavy for your wife.0

No, it'll live on the worktop, I just woundered if the bowl was heavy or difficult to handle0

Kitchenaids are pretty but Kenwood chefs last forever and are real workhorses........yes I have a Kenwood!0
