bought old car nearly 1++ yrs ago.. dont know what to do with it..
Hi,
I am in dilemma, I bought a 1999 Ford Fiesta in early 2011 for £700. I've changed one set of wheel because the thread is lesser than 1.6mm deep, I had to change my windscreen as it crack because i was driving at motorway and a stone hit on the driver side of it.. I was planning to sold it August last year so I did MOT (which I felt is a mistake) and cost me £300 which again I another mistake to repair the item and get it pass. I failed to sell the car and have been left at my friends house since then. In June, my friend tried to help me to start the car but it can't start (which i think i might be running out of petrol). Lately I tried to go and check the car again and battery have died as well. I was thinking to try and charge the battery and drive it back to where I live and try to revive the car but I highly doubt if it worth my time and money to continue spending for it. There is no insurance or road tax for the car.
If I chose to scrap it now, I will only able to get about £120.
I am just wondering if I should try to fix/repair the car? I am a DIY person and I could repair easy stuff. However if I want to continue to use the car I would have to get MOT, pay for road tax and insurance which It's going to cost about £1500 a year and I really don't know what to do.

If you're that fussed about spending money on an MOT, service and safety essentials, scrap it (or better to sell it) and stick to walking.0 -

No dilemma - either keep it road worthy and legal or sell it - sounds like it hasn't been looked after and you may only get scrap / low value if you try to sell it. But no dilemma really, unless you want a criminal record and fines for driving with no insurance and there's also no MOT or Tax, which again will also attract fines. I suppose at least the police will seize the car then for having no insurance and have it crushed, so your dilemma will be over.......0
