Shower enclosures

Hi

We need to buy a shower enclosure and tray for my dad. I looked on google and a company called Direct Group came up. The prices are very good and they look good too. Has anyone had dealings with this company and can tell us what their service and quality is like?

Thanks
Jackie

Don't know anything about Direct Group but I can tell you that "you get what you pay for" with shower tray and enclosures. In other words you won't get 6mm glass in a £199 shower enclosure. What are your requirements and how much do you want to spend?

  • Hi BobProperty

Yes that's what we were afraid of. We need approx. 900 x 900 base in resin or ceramic and an enclosure. Sort of middle of the road quality, so that it will last a few years. Not sure on price as I haven't bought one for a long time. Would £400 be enough?

As recommended by colleagues on another website:

All probably more than £400, sorry. Roman CL9 may be the sort of thing for what you want but that's listed at £580 without the tray.

I use Victoria Plumb and have just installed a 900mm quadrant enclosure with 8mm glass. The cost £199. I also purchased a 900mm stone resin tray for £150. Its on offer at the moment for £90. Took two of us to carry it. Both excellent quality.

The company is now on my approved supplier list for future developments.

Think I might have been a bit OTT with my comment as all the MSE's will attempt to beat the price/spec. I could be rude and ask how straight the edge of the glass is. I wished I'd taken a picture of something I'd seen recently where the shower screen edge was nothing like straight. I also had the misfortune once of being asked to fit a shower and screen which came from a well known catalogue. It was a quadrant and the screen frame was 4" out from the tray.
Anyhow, you're in the business, how would you rate the list I posted?
