I thought this was a site for advice rather than an unsympathetic place where I would actually be make to feel worse about my situation.

The problem comes when you receive that advice and decide you don't like it. It's done now, the facts have been recorded accurately (in that the three missed payments have been recorded.)

You now have to move on. It has already been suggested that you try for a basic account or alternatively you could try elsewhere for a current account with full facilities, albeit with the risk of rejection. None of us know enough about your circumstances to advise on this.

You mention that HSBC won't give you another current account. Does this imply you already have a current account with them?
  • they may take 6 years to go but lenders don't count them after 24 months generally...some 12 months....they want business.....loads of people get into late payments for all kind of reasons, so its not such a big deal like defaults and ccj's
late payment marks is just a small punishment for a small period of time not 6 years, that's scaremongering
