unfortunately im not in a union
I suspect it is very unlikely they would attempt to defend a claim for £150.
If you filed a claim online (no cost) ACAS would them become involved and explain to the employer that they would lose if it went the distance.
Note that the staff who deal with this sort of thing at ACAS are at a much higher level than the call centre.0 -

Well I don't!
I will up my percentage to 99% sure that you need a specific agreement for training costs to be recoverable. A line slipped into an employee handbook on employment contract doesn't cut it!0 -

Oh dear, I do keep getting PM's from users at this site.
You may cast your doubts aside. I did indeed say that, and I would have been legally correct to say that. The advice given here by Uncertain, Kiki, and Marybelle is absolutely correct. For training costs to be recoverable an agreement, which may be appended to a contract, must contain certain information about the level of cost, the terms of repayment including whether deductions can be made from wages and under what conditions such deductions would be made, and must stipulate the period over which those costs reduce. The employer can also be required to demonstrate to a tribunal that the recoverable cost is warranted and justifiable. And any agreement to this effect absolutely must be signed by the employee.0 -
Nice surprise to have SarEl back even for a short time, shame she was chased away.
Great advice and attitude.
If I ever need an employment Barrister I'd chose her (Assuming I could afford her).0 -

She mentioned on the other site that she is either retired or retiring - not sure which she said. So you'd mayb have to coax her a little

I read more here than I contribute, because for most of the questions I don't have any answers. However, I always like the comments of "the professionals", and have most certainly missed Sar_El for months.0
