Cheapest non-contract service

I am just coming out of a 12 month BT Line Rental saver term and looking to get the cheapest phone only service. I'll soon be moving house so I don't want to sign-up for any contract and thus a rolling monthly agreement is all I am looking for (even if any such long term contract could be easily transferred to the new house).
I am currently signed up to the BT privacy option so I get free caller ID but I'm willing to sacrifice this to get the best deal as it'll only be for a few months.
What's the cheapest non-contract service? All the offers and non-BT services all seem to be contract only. Is sticking with BT the cheapest option?

You're now on a rolling 30 day contract with BT. Why not save yourself the hassle and stick with them until the move?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

You are not out of a contract. All landline services require contracts. The only difference is the length of the minimum term.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Another - and more accurate explanation, is that without a contract you cannot obtain service. Once the minimum term is up, the contract continues (it never needs to 'roll' as it has no expiry date) but with a 30-day notice period.0
