Halifax Credit Card Query..

My husband applied for a Halifax CC which came with a nice 20 month 0% on balance transfers wanting to transfer £2k balance from Barclays. He got called yesterday saying he could have the card but as he had only been a Halifax customer or 2 months they would only give him a £500 balance.

My husband declined however when he told me I pointed out he may only have had his own account with them for 2 months but we have a joint account with them for 5+ years.

1. Why did they not know this 2nd is it worth him calling them back and pointing this out to them?

Declining is cutting off your nose to spite your face as you've had the search done which will now be recorded. It would be silly not to make use of what you've been offered.

The CSA who advised you may not be accurate in what they've told you, it may well just be down to credit history, current debt, available credit etc.

Limits on application can be successfully appealed at activation, they may require evidence to support the request though it's unlikely you'll get the £2k you require.

That's all very well but £500 isn't exactly much to play with.

I opened a new CC 9 days ago and already nearly over the £1k mark, £500 wouldn't see me through a week sometimes :rotfl:
