They announce an increase and Power N Ireland announce a decrease, which will make them an average cheaper than mainland providers......

    No, because they have set out their stall in public.

    Any customer on a SSE variable tariff today pre-increase can achieve approximately a 9% saving on a 1 year (or longer) fix by comparing whole of market using a comparison website.

    There is an old saying about horses and water. ISTM customers get the deal (and supplier) they deserve.
