barclays and barclaycard

not sure if this is in the right area , but i'm so upset .
basically many years ago i had a credit card with sky and brought things using this card i'd the minimum every month the bill came in , then i stopped getting bills . last friday a £600 sum was taken out of my bank so i phoned barclays and apparently barclaycard brought my sky card debt (again still no letters) they state its there legal right , now this morning i check my bank and they have taken over £1000 this time , what upsets me is this is my inhertence from my nan .

so what do i do ? i want to pay back the money but on a monthly plan so i can have my inheritence back , like i said they claim its there legal right
back from a comping break , good luck to all and me :j

I'm sorry, but I simply don't believe that they stopped sending bills for no reason several years ago and then suddenly took £600, and then £1000 without any warning.

Why did they stop sending bills and why did you never chase them up? Did you really, -no I mean really never get any debt letters from them?

Can we have the rest of the story please.

i really didn't get any letters , i didn't know that skycard was no more and that barclaycard had taken on the debt , in hindsight maybe i should of asked why i didn't get any letters years ago but i use the letter being delivered as my reminder that it needs paying

Never ignore a debt especially if it's within your own bank as your wages or inheritance will be snatched up as soon as they smell a bit of a balance.

The Sky Card was simply a Barclaycard with a Sky logo on it, therefore Barclayard always owned the card debt.

They are correct, they possess the right of set off.

So take the £150 a month (or whatever) that you would have offered Barclays as a monthly repayment, and set up a standing order for that amount into a savings account, and that what way you'll soon rebuild your inheritance.

The only way you wouldn't have got any letters is if you moved house as Barclaycard and Barclays bank deal with changes of address separately. Even if you don't use a credit card for a couple of months and it has zero balance the credit card company will send you a letter as they don't make any money out of unused cards.

In future don't try and run away from a financial debt as many companies are linked and openly state in their terms and conditions they share data with each other.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
